The Aerocool Rescue Helicopter, which services the Bay of Plenty region in the North Island of New Zealand. This fully operational BK-117 Kawasaki helicopter with single-pilot instrument flight capability is manned by a team of Intensive Care Paramedics, Pilots and Crewmen. It provides a 24/7 emergency service to the people of New Zealand, responding to roadside and off road incidents, bush and mountain S&R missions, marine mayday calls, hospital to hospital transfers and remote medical & accident emergencies. Last year it attended 476 missions. In compliance with the proportions and dimensions of the real BK-117 Kawasaki helicopter, the 3D model is made with customised fully wrapped graphics. My friend Erik Christensen and I had an evening to kill so we ended up around the coast with our Photogrammetry gear scanning this awesome van that had been burnt.
Huge credit goes to Erik for driving us out to the site and processing the high resolution data we captured.
This scan was created with 2474 images (culled down from 3000+). The shoot was approached in two passes, with Erik taking on the polarised side of the shoot while I did the specular shoot.
