It's almost a year ago that I uploaded my first ship model, the IJN Fubuki, so I decided to make one of her more advanced sister ships: The IJN Ayanami. The Ayanami was build for the Imperial Japanese Navy and when introduced into service she was one of the most powerful destroyer in the world. She sustained critical damage after being shelled by the USS Washington during the second phase of the Battle of Guadalcanal (15 November 1942) and was later scuttled by IJN Uranami. The IJN Kaga was an aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War 2, Originally intended to be one of two Tosa-class battleships, she was converted under the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty to an aircraft carrier. She sank during the Battle of Midway.
Kaga was modernized in 1933–1935, increasing her top speed, improving her exhaust systems, and adapting her flight decks to more modern, heavier aircraft.
