After creating the sculpt and low res, I tried to use the colors of the reference, and wasn’t happy with how it looked. I instead used photos of Blizzard’s recent showcase of Kul Tiras in World of Warcraft as a color theme. This 3D model is based on the short story Slug girl by Junji Ito.
I sculpted it in Blender and handpainted the textures in Substance Painter. The model is optimized and game-ready. I had a lot of fun working on this project and will definitely do something similar in the future.
