Bacchus Mosaic from Antioch (325-330 CE) 3D Model 2023-11-07
Economic prosperity in the city of Antioch, a vital agricultural and commercial center at the crossroads of the Roman Empire and strategically located on the N-S-E-W axis of the silk road, created an extensive middle-class population that was wealthy, sophisticated, cosmopolitan, and of course, liked a good party. Villas in this region were often opulently decorated with stunning wall frescos and floor mosaics, like this medallion of the wine god Bacchus. This floor mosaic was initially located in the entrance hall of a Roman villa as part of a much larger floor that included the similar mosaic also posted to this feed. As guests walked across the floor mosaic, these images of the wine god Bacchus and his “Thiasus,” or retinue of dedicated followers, would have created an atmosphere of wine-drinking revelry and merriment! Such a mosaic would suggest to guests that you enjoyed an excellent raucous dinner party with wine and all the delicious accompaniments! - Bacchus Mosaic from Antioch (325-330 CE) - 3D model by Specterras 3d model

One caryatid from the temple of Athena on the Acropolis in Athens. This is a replica, original ones being exposed in museums in Greece but also one in the British Museum. Limited scan. Because of the difficult environment, I was forced to take pictures from very far with almost no sight of the back. I partly reconstructed missing parts in this area and textured too. I also did some manual delighting in blender to suppress hard shadows caused by morning sunlight. A caryatid is a sculpted female figure serving as an architectural support taking the place of a column or a pillar supporting an entablature on her head. The Greek term karyatides literally means “maidens of Karyai”, an ancient town on the Peloponnese. wiki - Caryatid - Ancient Greece Collection - Download Free 3D model by 3Dystopia (@Dystopia) 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 452518 polygons.
