Photogrammetry model of ceremonial helmet and armour (year 1780 to 1820) from Qing dynasty at British Museum. The helmet is conical in shape. A Tibetan influence is visible in the graphs applied to the rim of the helmet. Armour - velvet, silk and brocade reinforced with gilded copper alloy studs and lamellae. The sloping vent at the back allows the wearer to mount a horse. Made of silver, copper alloy, velvet, silk and brocade. Qing soldiers and guards came from many different cultures and countries, and included Manchus, Han Chinese, Mongols, Koreans, Uighurs, Tibetans and Russians. They were organized in groups called Banners. 7 years ago, I scanned this Nanotyrannus : https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/nanotyrannus-lancensis-young-t-rex-7b0967fa27674d959647868686b6717b . However, the model was far from perfect.
I figured I would scan it again for the Agisoft Nature Challenge.
This time, I managed to create a watertight model that should be 3D printable. I also set the number of polygons to 300k on purpose : half the weight of the original model, but with more details !
This is a cast of the real fossil of a Nanotyrannus Lancensis found in Gilmore, Montana, in the Hell Creek formation, in 1946. It is about 65 million years old. Scientists used to think Nanotyrannus Lancensis was a species distinct from the famous T-Rex, but recent discoveries tend to show that a nanotyrannus is actually a young T-Rex.
You might ask yourself why the skull is not symmetrical : this deformation occured during the fossilization process.
