Description: Pseudomalachite is an emerald green to dark green and blackish-green, monoclinic mineral consisting of a hydrated basic copper phosphate. It is also known as tagilite. Pseudomalachite is found in oxidized zones of copper deposits. This sample comes with radial fibrous and concentric inner structure, and reniform/botryoidal surface.
The name Pseudomalachite comes from the Greek for “false” and “malachite”, because of its similarity in appearance to the carbonate mineral malachite.

Das Modell zeigt einen brekziierten Ammoniten aus einer Braunjurascholle der charakteristischen Bunten Brekzie. Durch den Einschlag des Ries-Asteroiden vor ca. 15 mio. Jahren wurde das etwa 170 mio. Jahre alte Meeresfossil zerrüttet und anschließend wieder zusammenzementiert. Die rote Färbung ist auf die Anreicherung von Eisen in den Braunjuraschichten zurückzuführen.
