  DAE Diorama - Forest Loner 3D Model 2026-06-23
Deep in the forest, near a lake, there is a house that might look abandoned at first, until you take a closer look. Who lives here, people ask, maybe a hermit that tired of the noise of a city decided to left everything, or maybe an old lady, whose husband passed away decades ago and now leaves lonely in her cabin, wandering through the wood. Maybe we will never know. There is a bike, right there next to the tree, but it have not been moved in ages, and the cup over that table seems to be fairly old. The tiny blue birds have built homes around the thick leaves hanging from the house´s roof, and the woodhouse is almost empty. Is it someone even living here? This is my scene for the Howest DAE diorama assignment. Before starting my studies at DAE I went on a summer trip to Norway and found the nature there, and in particular the forests, to be very inspiring. I tried to capture some of that experience in the foliage and landscaping of the garden. My main goal for this scene was to make it feel like a believable whole while still keeping a strong overall composition. I really tried to push myself on this one so any feedback will always be appreciated. I did my best to convey the forest loner’s story of why he lives where he does. He may be an art thief but I didn’t want to commit any actual art theft myself, so the paintings are just some photographs, mostly from Norway.
