  Environment scan with map baking A7R IV vs D5300 3D Model 2026-09-16
In this test I wanted to test how much there is difference when baking normals and AO from much higher polycount mesh. 28 million mesh (A7R IV) vs. 16 million mesh (D5300). Both models have been decimated to 800k meshes. It was a part cloudy day so i used AWB with both cameras. Personally i'm surprised that almost double the polycount shows on minimal difference when baking.

This is a church built somewhere around year 1100. The building material is sand stone and wood. The church has been built on top of 1,5 meters of previous “cultural building remains” Through annual ring dating on wooden beams over the nave, it has been found that these trees were felled in 1136. The church is built in Romanesque style with the tower to the west. (Notation 1 on the model) An inscription engraved above the entrance on the west side states that “Othelrik me fecit”, which means: Othelric has made me.
