The alewife has been brewing ale for the household as they prepare for Sir Eustace and Lady Agnes’s return to Caerlaverock. Her ale is made using barley she bought from the monks at Sweetheart Abbey. She talks about Sweetheart and Lady Devorgilla and eludes to how it was named. The alewife would brew and sell ale to the community. The quality of water at the time was so poor that it meant that ale was a safer bet to drink. As the ale went sour very quickly, the alewife would be continually brewing fresh batches to keep her customers happy. This meant that it was a way for women to add additional income to a household. This is a 3D model of an ancient marble statue in the Glyptotek Museum in København, Denmark. It is a sculpture of the Roman emperor Trajan. The statue depicts Trajan in a standing position with pieces of both arms missing from the statue. Trajan ruled Rome from 98 to 117 CE. He was seen as a very benevolent ruler and was most known for projects that benefited the Roman society. Such projects include constructing aqueducts and building public baths.

Usually, a thin film comprised of aluminum and phosphate was found to coat such Hematite. The thin films that range from tens to hundreds of nanometers thick are believed to cause the color.
Hematite is an iron mineral crystallizing in the rhombohedral system; the most important ore of iron, it is dimorphous with Maghemite, occurs in black metallic-looking crystals, in reniform masses or fibrous aggregates, or in reddish earthy forms. Hematite is also known as bloodstone; red hematite; red iron ore; red ocher; or rhombohedral iron ore.

The mason is in the process of repairing the rear wall of the castle. He’s very industrious and talks about fixing up the castle and recovering the lost stone from the moat. Gargoyles on the castle were carved by the mason and he’s very proud of his work.
The medieval stonemason was a highly skilled craftsman. He served a seven year apprenticeship to learn his craft. Once a fully fledged stonemason, his skills were always in high demand.
