Michelangelo not only designed the Laurentian Reading Room, but also its furnishings (see Corpus 558, Casa Buonarroti) The books that comprised the Medici collection were originally housed in the cubbies under the desks. Until the 19th century, each book was chained to its location and organized by subject. You step into the library, feeling the tremendous knowledge it possesses. You feel a presence of greater will, that inhabits this place. A soul, kind yet hostile to those unworthy. And as you turn to take a last glance at the overwhelming amount of tomes living in these ancient shelfs, there you see it, watching you… and it does welcome you.
It was such a great project to work on! It was tons of fun to work on a complex character and make it game ready! The task was really challenging since this is the first attempt at a complex character in stylized style but I really love how it turned out. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
