Mictlan Fans here is another preview of one of our most recent characters so you can see the level of details that goes into our video game production. This Character was inspired by a real-life historical account by a group of otomí tribe elite warriors called “Cuachicqueh” or also known as the bold hair warriors. This was one of the most powerful warriors that even the Spaniards spoke on their history books as unbeatable, they were trained in the Kalmekak since an early age and brought up to be war machines, but instead of the conventional army warriors, they were profoundly spiritual and devoted to giving their life to the God of War “Huitzilopochtli” In order to be on this rank, you would have to have captured 6 warriors for sacrificial offering and have won numerous other battles, to be this high rank in the elite. I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!
