This project was done in collaboration with Rajan Verma. https://www.artstation.com/rajan_verma He was kind enough to provide the Base model. Modular Rifle is based on concept art by the brilliant artist Kris Thaler. https://www.artstation.com/kristhaler It was a great experience working on the rifle.I used our creativity to add certain elements to make it more appealing. The goal of this artwork was to make it look realistic.I used lots of shading techniques to make it look great and be more versatile. This rifle is comprised of four texture sets. A personal project about learning Houdini and procedural modeling.
Back when I first started learning hard surface modeling, I remember struggling when making Picatinny rails haha.
Now I am back for redemption and can generate any Picatinny rail I want, both a high poly and low poly! Slap a smart material on it in substance and this is the result!
These 5 were made using the tool but many more variations are possible.
