A pillbox and anti-tank blocks which formed part of the Innes Links Coastal Defences, a scheduled monument in Moray that ran from Lossiemouth to kingston. The coastal defences were built and used from 1941-42 to stop any possible German invasion though after the Battle of Britain the fear of invasion was greatly reduced and they were abandoned. IT was hailed as being ‘‘100 years ahead of its time’’ when it opened in 1936 to care for the treatment of people with learning disabilities.
Hidden in a wooded estate, well outside Glasgow’s city boundary, Lennox Castle hospital - built for (pounds) 1m - was chosen for its rural, peaceful and safe location.
Apart from a few who had jobs on neighbouring farms, the 1500 patients catered for at its peak, aged from 10 to 80, lived mainly in their own community, separate from their neighbours in Lennoxtown, with their own workshops, school and recreational facilities.

This timber carving of the archangel St Michael stands at 3.3 metres tall, with its large medallion engraved with a cross coming in at 5.4 meters and is suspended from the vaulted ceiling on the Scottish National War Memorial 9.3 metres above the casket that holds the Roll of Honour of the Scottish War Dead.
The carving is made of Scottish Oak and was made by the Clow brothers from a design by Alice Meredith-Williams.
The Scottish War Memorial opened in 1927 after the former North Barracks were altered. It is located at the North side of Crown Square, at the site of the church of St Mary, previously used as munitions store in the 1530s.
