Découverte de manière fortuite, cette statuette d’Hercule (Héraclès pour les Grecs) n’a malheureusement pas de provenance connue. Le pied droit en avant et le talon gauche soulevé indiquent que le personnage est représenté en mouvement. Il s’agirait d’une évocation d’un des épisodes les plus célèbres de la mythologie gréco-romaine : le quatrième des douze travaux d’Hercule. Après avoir capturé vivant le terrifiant sanglier d’Érymanthe sur l’ordre du roi Eurysthée, le demi-dieu armé de sa massue ramène à la cour l’animal sauvage vaincu comme preuve de sa victoire en portant sa lourde charge sur son dos.
