I challenged myself to design and model a robot, this dude took me almost a full year to come up with. I'm so bad when it comes to imagining robots and I'm even worse at hard surface modeling. Another challenge I put on myself was to try and not use ball joints, It felt like I was cheating if I used them in my design. One of the biggest lessons I learned from doing this project is that not everything is just not going to be perfect. I spent hours fixing miniscule things, trying to get the perfect alignment when in reality it literally didn't matter as long it was good enough. The design itself was mainly inspired by Futurama Robots and Team Fortress 2 MVM robots. Anyways I'm happy with what I've created. People really like this little guy so I cleaned it up and baked it to be more representative of the rendered and printed versions but in the real-time. This is still a concept model so I didn’t really go all the way making a low poly and really optimizing it but rather a version that can still be enjoyed through a viewer. I’d like to update it later to include a variety of screen expressions.
