The DDA40X is a 6,600 horsepower (4.92 megawatts) D-D diesel-electric built by the General Motors EMD division of La Grange, Illinois for the Union Pacific Railroad. Nicknamed “Centennials” because they were built around the 100th anniversary of the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad, and “Big Jack”, the DDA40X uses two diesel engine prime movers, each rated at 3,300 horsepower (2.46 megawatts). The DDA40X is the most powerful single-unit diesel-electric locomotive ever built, although more recent designs such as the GE AC6000CW and EMD SD90MAC have come close. The British Rail Class 800 Intercity Express Train or Azuma is a type of bi-mode multiple unit train built by Hitachi for Great Western Railway and London North Eastern Railway. The type uses electric motors powered from overhead electric wires for traction, but also has diesel generators to enable trains to operate on unelectrified track. Based on the Hitachi A-train design, the trains were built by Hitachi between 2014 and 2018.
This train is in a fictional livery, aiming to recreate the iconic British Rail Intercity “Swallow” livery.
This model was originally made as an asset for the game Cities: Skylines. There are some minor simplifications to the texture and model to keep it optimised for the game.
