Foreign service pith helmet, worn during the Boer War. A Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry badge in red with white embroidered text ‘Cornwall’ surmounted by a bugle. Belonging to Serjeant George, a Cornishman from Mylor, first served with 1st Battalion DCLI and saw action in the Tirah Campaign (1897/8, in modern day Pakistan). He moved to 2nd Battalion and served with them through the Boer War.
