The C-27J Spartan is a military transport plane used by a several countries, including the United States, Italy and Australia. It was designed and built by the Italian aircraft manufacturer Alenia Aermacchi. It was initially designed to replace the C-23 Sherpa by the United States Army but was found to be too expensive to support and has been relinquished to secondary roles.
