The fifth of twelve experimental weapons known as Gundams, the Durandal serves as the base for future mobile suits produced by the Commonwealth Space Forces. It was originally designed as a testbed, capable of equipping a variety of parts for testing purposes. Its weapons and equipment are built around the use of photons. After testing, it's decomissioned and stored for future study at the Commonwealth Cold Storage Facility on Ceres.
