The NASA crawler-transporter, a pivotal element of the Apollo program, played a vital role in moving the Saturn V moon rocket from the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) to the launch pad. These colossal tracked vehicles, weighing around 6 million pounds and measuring over 130 feet in length, were custom-built for this monumental task. To transport the Saturn V, the crawler-transporters would delicately hoist the massive rocket onto a mobile launch platform inside the VAB.
