2nd Battalion Royal Cornwall Militia, belonging to John Hext of Trenarn, born 1766 died 1838. Commanded the 2nd Royal Cornwall, or Roseland Regiment of Local Militia. Double-breasted scarlet cloth with blue collar and cuffs. Eight gilt buttons set in pairs on either side of front opening. Lapel of collar can be worn turned back with top four buttons undone, to show blue facing. Top four button holes on blue side of lapels have ornamental blue twist bindings. All front button holes on scarlet side have crimson twist bindings. This item originates from the collection at Bodmin Keep Musuem, Cornwall, UK. The model was created by Purpose3D. Short form description: A black naval uniform great coat with a variety of different cap markings/rankings.
Long form description: A black naval uniform jacket with a variety of different badges and rank markings over the shoulders and arms. There are 6 buttons down the front of the coat, with 3 buttons either side with accompanying button holes, suggesting that it was actually uni. The material used is a black cotton with the garment then being lined with silk. On the cuff of either sleeve there is a British army cap suggesting that the ranking of the person who originally owned and wore the garment. There is a naval stripe on the left shoulder where potentially medals would have hung or further indication of where the gentleman ranked on terms of the navy. There is a small split up the back of the garment, there to assist with movements such as getting in or out of vehicles or climbing on and off a horse.
