Final assignment for the 3D1 course at Digital Arts and Entertainment @howest Kortrijk, Belgium kinda fell in love with this little place - i'd like to live there learning how to work with maya has been a real pleasure, i was a bit sceptical at first since i started my 3d journey in fusion 360 and blender, maya felt very different and getting to a point of workflow proficiency where i started to really enjoy working took longer than expected. This is my diorama for the 3D1 final assignment in Howest Digital Arts & Entertainment. The goal was to create a low poly scene based on a selected storyline using Maya and Photoshop.
At the end of an overgrown road in the English countryside lives grandma in her lovely stone cottage. She spends a lot of her time outside, tending to her flowers in the old greenhouse, doing daily chores and enjoying tea time while telling stories to her beloved animals. This is my scene for the Howest DAE diorama assignment.
Before starting my studies at DAE I went on a summer trip to Norway and found the nature there, and in particular the forests, to be very inspiring. I tried to capture some of that experience in the foliage and landscaping of the garden. My main goal for this scene was to make it feel like a believable whole while still keeping a strong overall composition. I really tried to push myself on this one so any feedback will always be appreciated.
I did my best to convey the forest loner’s story of why he lives where he does. He may be an art thief but I didn’t want to commit any actual art theft myself, so the paintings are just some photographs, mostly from Norway.
