Sculpted in VR with oculus medium. Painting on vertex isn't great so I had to create shapes for everything (typically the moustaches and eyes). I used an actual nutcracker on my desk as a reference :) From Wikipedia: Nutcrackers in the form of wood carvings of a soldier, knight, king, or other profession have existed since at least the 15th century. Figurative nutcrackers are a good luck symbol in Germany, and a folk tale recounts that a puppet-maker won a nutcracking challenge by creating a doll with a mouth for a lever to crack the nuts. Princess Azula from Avatar: The last Airbender character model.
A personal project to further develop my learning at University and just aquire more knowledge with industry software. I started in Zbrush, retopologised in Maya, posed in Zbrush, baked and textured in Substance Painter. I am pretty happy with the outcome being my first character retopology and although there is a lot of stuff I would do different if I was to make it again, I believe it is better to take all the new lessons learnt onto my next project.
