Powstanie Warszawskie rozpoczęło się 1 sierpnia 1944 roku w Warszawie i było największym zrywem niepodległościowym podczas II wojny światowej. Było częścią większej operacji militarnej Armii Krajowej o kryptonimie „Burza”. Wybuch powstania oficjalnie zaplanowano na godzinę 17:00, którą określono, jako godzinę „W”. Powstanie trwało aż 63 dni, kończąc się 2 października 1944 roku. Powstańcy broń i amunicję zdobywali na przeciwniku, a braki uzupełniali bronią z konspiracyjnych zakładów – produkowano miotacze ognia, butelki zapalające, pistolety maszynowe „Błyskawica” oraz granaty („sidolówki” i „filipinki”). Powstańcy nie mieli też jednolitych mundurów. Walczyli w ubraniach cywilnych lub zdobycznych mundurach niemieckich. Po tygodniach heroicznej walki zginęło od 16 tys. do 18 ty żołnierzy AK i do 180 tys. cywilów (ok. 60 tyś. zamordowanych podczas tzw. rzezi Woli w dniach 5-12 sierpnia 1944 r.). Po kapitulacji Warszawa została zrównana z ziemią przez Niemców stając się „miastem ruin” 3d model

Just a little weekend project I wanted to work on, thought of a Polish SMG used in the Second World War to defend Poland! Some Information on the gun: In 1942 engineer Wacław Zawrotny proposed to the Armia Krajowa command that he and his colleagues prepare a project of a cheap, home-made machine pistol for use by the Polish resistance. Its main feature was its simplicity, so that the weapon could be made even in small workshops, by inexperienced engineers. The idea was accepted, and Zawrotny, together with his colleague Seweryn Wielanier, prepared a project of a sub-machine gun, soon afterward named Błyskawica (Polish for “lightning”). To allow for easier production, all parts of the weapon were joined together with screws and threads rather than bolts and welding, which were commonly used in firearm production ever since the 17th century.
